Should Your Business be on TikTok?

With the news surrounding TikTok these days, many wonders if TikTok is even worth investing in as part of your social media strategy. Let's talk about it.

Should You Still Post on TikTok?

With the news surrounding TikTok these days, many wonders if TikTok is even worth investing in as part of your social media strategy.

Let’s talk about it 😎😎

As a small business owner, you are most likely already posting or are considering posting on platforms like Instagram. Instagram can be a perfect choice to promote your small business if you are an artist or have products directed to consumers. It also works if you are a service-based business.

But aside from Instagram. TikTok has proven to be an excellent choice for small businesses and their social media content strategy.

Tiktok by the Numbers

Tiktok was the number 1 most downloaded app in Q1 for 2022 and is still a highly popular app, despite current attempts to have it shut down. Other stats that you, as a business owner, need to know are:

  • TikTok has over 1 billion, monthly active users. The US forms 113 million of those monthly active users.

  • Gen Zers use TikTok more than Instagram. The older Gen Zers are 26 years old, don’t think of them as just kids. They have buying power.

  • 40% of TikTok users do not have a Facebook profile, making your ad spend a bit harder to convert if your business is catering to a younger audience.

  • The average user spends 95 minutes per day on the app; this increases the opportunity for a creator to post about your product or your video showing up on your idea audience’s feed.

  • 54% of TikTok users are women.

  • 55% of TikTok users have bought something after seeing the brand on the app.

Should You Create Content for TikTok?

A small business owner holds many hats. The best course of action is to start sharing already-made video content with the app and see how it performs. It is a practice that many content creators already do, to increase the chance of the right audience seeing your content and connecting with them.

When it comes to creating content for your business, the rule of thumb is always: make something engaging, and that connects with your audience.

If you aren’t already, consider making video content and sharing it along Instagram and TikTok and measure results. Your audience can be in both apps, but it doesn’t mean they are active in both of them.
